The Zaovine Lake is located in Zaovine village, on the mountain Tara, in the borders of the Tara National Park, in western Serbia.
According to its origin, it is an artificial lake and it was formed by the rebuilding of the White Rzava River and the construction of a dam in the village of Đurići near the village of Zaovine. The Zaovine Lake has a depth of 110 m and was built in the function of the hydroelectric power plant "Bajina Bašta". Immediately next to the dam, there is a place where Josif Pančić found Serbian Spruce (Pančićeva omorika).
Lake water is extremely clean, and is used for breeding trouts. In the summer period, Zaovine Lake attracts many nature lovers, and as there are a number of wild beaches on its coast, it is a popular bathing place. It is an ideal place for water sports, fishing, orientation, nutrition in nature ...
